POSSESS
Music by 13th Hour & Bombardier
Released by Dyslexic Response (Brooklyn, NY)

MATRIX: DR-02
FORMAT: split 12" vinyl
RELEASED: 04/2000

TRACK LISTING:
A1. Possess
A2. SXE
B1. Sickness
B2. Unchosen

REVIEWS:
Four tracks of needle damage, two of which come courtesy of the rather nomadic Bombardier and two of which are supplied by 13th Hour. Bombardier's first submission is a piece of sheer fury called Sickness, which doesn't appear on his Violence cd. His second track is an creepy, ambient-ish number called Unchosen. Flip the record for a pair of industrial electro tracks by 13th Hour. Imagine Skinny Puppy stealing beats from Aux88 and samples from Merzbow and you'll get an idea of the direction this goes in.

-DJ Fishead (Northern Hardcorps, Massive Magazine, Activated Magazine)

Crunchy distorted noisy industrial and stuff that sounds like nothing else except Bombardier. Insanely good. The flip features a massively distorted dark hoover (almost trace sounding) bassline over some severly noisy and trashed jungle-speed breaks, and a short, eerie noise-dub style ambient track. Pick this up if you have a brain.

-Geoff Maddock (Wrecked)

PSYCHOSIS
Music by Bombardier & Ed Turbin
Released by Ghetto Safari (Milwaukee, WI)

MATRIX: CAMO-07
FORMAT: split 12" vinyl
RELEASED: 02/2000

FEATURED TRACK:
A1. Schizophrenia

REVIEWS:
Bombardier side is wicked, S a great big 'S' is for Schizophrenia(satan speaks through the snake that makes the shape) Sssss.

-Venetian Snares

Bombardier is a force to be reckoned with. While some producers are content to use broken beats he takes things further: dismembering and burying them in a shallow grave topped with all things distorted. Flip the record for Ed Turbin's submission which has a chilled out feel to it, but soon busts into double time kicks. The atmosphere on this side is brooding and calculated, while Bombardier's track presents a different kind of malignancy. One side for the snapped and one side for those patiently waiting for revenge.

-DJ Fishead (Northern Hardcorps, Massive Magazine, Activated Magazine)

Bombardier builds his breaks using drum machine sounds, doesn't use the amen and therefore sounds trashier than all the others. Chaotic basslines. Smashed-through betabeats.
(roughly translated from German)

-Thaddi (Debug Magazine)

Finally we get some new Ghetto Safari tracks! Skip the Ed Turbin track unless you like subtle hardcore tracks on the minimalist tip, and go straight to the Bombardier track, that's where the real flava is. It starts out with a crunchy two-step beat, which is easy for mixing, thank god, since all hell breaks loose after that! What you get after the intro is some dirty bass popping up here and there along with evil hip-hop tempo beats and assorted distorted synth effects. Gradually a drum machine rhythm that sounds like it was pecked out by a chicken on genetically engineered steroids patched through broken distortion boxes comes in and resumes the D&B tempo along with generous amounts of noise. YUMMY and it's not a roller! I've been bitching that there haven't been enough break-core tracks being released, but now I got a new one for the crate, at a domestic price even! WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE!

-Grizly (Jungle Voodoo)

First up is some real madness, Bombardier with 'Schizophrenia' ! Noise? Music? A ruff, tuff exploration of the untamed, the unknown that Rocks Hard!

-Linda Leigh/L3 (Technotica)

REVIEWS:
In-fuckin'-credible tape from an Iowa native now calling San Francisco home. Heavily distorted, angry and noisy. Only 30 minutes long, but hard as fuckin' nails. Distorted as fuck, punk as barbed wire...and it's 100% cheese free.

-DJ Fishead (Northern Hardcorps, Massive Magazine, Activated Magazine)

Very experimental and twisted is the only way to describe Bombardier's music. Sounds are twisted to breaking point and leave the listener on edge. Some tracks lean to the very dark side of drum 'n' bass while others take the death metal route, but the majority of the tracks take their lead from speedcore and industrial hardcore.

-Paul McFayden (Inner Space E-Zine)

HANGARS LIQUIDES 9

Released by Hangars Liquides (France)

MATRIX: HL009
FORMAT: comp 12" vinyl
RELEASED: 07/1999

FEATURED TRACK:
B2. Chamber

REVIEWS:
International compilation featuring seven tracks by six artists. For the most part these are experimental compositions, ranging from lyserging ambience to tracks that stay well away from conventional structures. Bombardier's ĄChamber” is the most in your face track on the compilation, with a mid-range that screams at you and beats that stumble, terrified alongside it...

-DJ Fishead (Northern Hardcorps, Massive Magazine, Activated Magazine)

REVIEWS:
Jason Snell - aka blistering beat noisewrecker Bombardier - couldn't possibly have picked a more appropriate pseudoname. Inspired by such fellow Midwestern noiseniks as DJ Tron and Delta 9, Snell experimented with cheap equipment for years before signing to California-based Vinyl Communications, one the most well respected hardcore lables in the world. The practice paid off: Bombardier's music impacts like sensory napalm, thickly distorted, explosive, warped, staticky.

At his most intense, this stuff sounds like the settling of debris following a nuclear storm. Of course, anybody with the inclination can whip up a like minded racket. Doing it right is a different story altogether. But on my introduction to Bomardier - seeing him live - it was clear from his head-clearing 45 minute eruption that this was as smart as noisecore gets. Often, music of this sort loses focus - for the listener, if not the creators themselves - but his set never stopped blowing up, never surrendered a shred of intensity...

Bombardier's first CD, Violence, is a juggernaut that lives up to both label reputation and album title. With 20 short cuts (totalling 43 minutes) slamming into each other without a pause for breath, it's as relentless as Bombardier's show. But it's also more varied than you might expect: Where live Snell's set was divided pretty evenly into a breakbeat half and a gabber half, thigns are mixed up a little more on the album, and the quesy interludes (which sound like shortwave broadcasts from the kind of "other dimensions" you in dystopian, H.R. Giger-inspired science-fictive video games) keep up the mood, if not the pace. Even better, as relentless as Violence is, it's never grim-faced: Like all good hardcore of whatever genre (hiphop, punk, etc.), its sounds like Snell is riding the sheer velocity of his creations and having the time of his life doing it...

-Michaelangelo Matos (City Pages, New York Press)

Possibly the best hardcore techno CD in America. Bombardier is to music what Clive Barker is to writing: a head-on collision with metacosmic hallucinations. This is what hardcore techno is all about. Harsh, ear splitting exuberance and unsettling atmospheres. All 20 tracks are exquisitely mixed for a continuous barrage of extreme sounds and rhythms. A very solid production. There are no survivors in this story.

-Anonymous (Amazon.com)

All tracks are mixed together, forming an insane cacaphony of distorted breakbeats, hardcore, metal sounds and voices shrieking in terror... but strangely melodious as well. One of the last tracks, DC, is truly great. You won't help grinning maliciously (and hoping your head doesn't explode) when you listen to this track.

-Tom (Amazon.com)

Ear-full of slamming electronic warfare... Care to bite off a little more than you can chew? Heh heh... 'Violence' plunges into some of the deepest depths of distortion i've heard yet. Twisted screems and metal warping around skeletal bass lines...flavor of high energy punk, and grinding industrial machinery...the organic flesh and metal collide....

It comes highly recommended. Continuous mix...beat matched and all.

BIOMECH WARFARE
Music by Bombardier
Released by Low Res Records (Detroit, MI)

MATRIX: LOW-003
FORMAT: 12" vinyl
RELEASED: 02/1999

TRACK LISTING:
A1. Syn
A2. Bleed
B1. Machine
B2. Exorcism

REVIEWS:
Moody industrial, with fierce jungle flavour on the bass lines and some sick gritty acid tones combine for some of the dopest stuff I've encountered on the domestic front in a while. Low Res with the assistance of Bombardier has made its mark as one of the up and comers in the American hardcore.

-Deadly Buda (Deadly Systems)

Four track outta San Francisco, by way of Detroit's Low Res posse. A-side opens up with a thoroughly damaged tech-step sounding beast that sounds like the kinda shit that would get Ed Rush clutching a teddy bear and cryin' to momma. It kicks off with a nice bassline intro which means you can slip into the mix with minimal crowding. Bleed from the phenomenal Cris D'Agonie cassette follows... fuckin' rights! B-side takes things in a different direction, Machine is softer, but still down with the devil... tortured choirs suffer over beats that sound snapped rather than broken... closing things out is a slice of beatless hell called Exorcism... see you in the flames...

-DJ Fishead (Northern Hardcorps, Massive Magazine, Activated Magazine)
