DIVISION 13 / JASON SNELL © 2007 New York City

TITLE: Skinwalker
ARTIST: Bombardier
MATRIX: D13.008
RELEASED: 04/2005
FORMAT: CD
TRACKS: 1. Perdition
2. Skinwalker
3. Instinct
4. Unchosen
5. Doubt
DESCRIPTION: Skinwalker is a term for a malevolent Navajo shape-shifting spirit. The material on this 5 track EP shows a transition of Bombardier's work from fast and distorted hardcore into a new phase of slower, darker, and more lucid work. The title track, "Skinwalker" introduces a religious ferver trapped inside the slow tempo cages. Like an animal raging to escape, the music peaks during "Instinct" and collapses in defeat as the EP closes with the cinematic "Doubt."
REVIEWS:

I listened to it several times and it continues in the tradition of CDs from Bombardier: I'm never let down. The dark moody intro set the tone just right. "Skinwalker" was dark, haunting, and very grinding, like an old Bombardier track, but at half speed. "instinct" is the best, real menacing, heavy, and evil. The distorted broken beat added to the intensity. 135 bpm... perfect. "Doubt" is again dark and haunting, but this time has a sad feeling which was different. My second favorite track of the bunch.

Frankly, it's phenomenal. I think it's one of my favorite releases of yours. I absolutely love the title track so much that it hurts. It's really totally awesome. I don't have much else to say. I like the tempo. A few moments really sounded like old ministry. The samples were awesome. The songwriting is really, really good. I think that's where it really stands out, all the changeups and the flow of the songs.
